概要

愛知県豊田市にて木の器を制作されている紀平佳丈さんの展覧会を開催いたします。紀平さんの作品は、轆轤などの機械を用いず、鑿や鉋、ヤスリを使い分けながら、木目の流れに耳を澄ませるようにして一点一点手仕事で形づくられます。丁寧に刳り出され、幾度も削りと磨きを重ねて生まれる器は、過度な装飾を持たず、静かな緊張感を湛えながらも、どこかあたたかな気配を纏います。均一ではないわずかな起伏や、木が本来持つ色合いと表情。それらをそのまま受け止め、素直に引き出されたかたちは、使い手の手の中で穏やかに馴染み、日々の食卓や暮らしの時間に自然と溶け込んでいきます。本展では、定番の皿や鉢、盆など日常使いの器に加え、このたびのためにご用意いただいた作品もご紹介いたします。木の息づかいを感じていただける機会となりましたら幸いです。どうぞご高覧下さいませ。

We are pleased to present an exhibition of works by Yoshitake Kihira, a wood artist based in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture. Kihira creates his pieces without the use of machinery such as a lathe. Instead, each vessel is carefully shaped by hand—carved, refined, and polished with chisels, planes, and sandpaper—while attentively responding to the natural direction and character of the wood grain. Through this patient process, his works emerge with a quiet tension and clarity of form, yet retain a gentle warmth. Subtle undulations, natural tones, and the unique expressions inherent to each piece of wood are embraced rather than concealed. The resulting forms settle comfortably into the hands, gradually becoming part of everyday life and the rhythms of the table. This exhibition will feature his signature plates, bowls, and trays for daily use, along with works specially prepared for the occasion.
