概要

信楽を拠点に制作される山田洋次さんの陶磁器展を開催いたします。滋賀県東近江市生まれの山田さんは、信楽窯業試験場で基礎を学んだのち渡英し、帰国後は信楽の地で制作を行ってきました。現在はスリップウェアと焼〆の仕事を軸に、信楽の土を用いた器を手がけています。伝統的なオーブンウェアに通じるスリップウェアの器と、その仕事の延長で生まれた独自の焼〆の器。線や点で描かれる文様には自由な手の運びが感じられ、器ごとに異なる表情があらわれます。使うことで次第に馴染み、日常の生活の中に自然と溶け込んでいきます。本展では、皿や鉢、ピッチャーや花入など、日常の食卓で活躍する作品をご紹介いたします。

We are pleased to present an exhibition of ceramic works by Yoji Yamada, who is based in Shigaraki.Born in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture, Yamada studied the fundamentals of ceramics at the Shigaraki Ceramic Research Institute before traveling to the UK. After returning to Japan, he established his practice in Shigaraki. Today, he works primarily with slipware and yakishime, creating vessels using Shigaraki clay. Alongside slipware rooted in traditional ovenware, Yamada also produces distinctive yakishime pieces that have developed as an extension of this practice. The lines and dots that appear on the surfaces reflect a free movement of the hand, giving each vessel its own character. Through use, the works reveal deeper nuances and gradually settle into everyday life.This exhibition presents a wide range of works for daily use, including plates, bowls, and vases.
