概要

京都市京北町にて制作される新宮州三さんの展覧会を開催いたします。新宮さんは、鑿や鉋で木を削り出す「刳物」、轆轤を用いる「挽物」によって木地を成形し、漆を幾重にも重ねて仕上げるまで、一貫した制作を手がけています。京北の豊かな自然の中で生まれる作品には、木が本来もつ力強さが損なわれることなく、自然の気配が静かに息づいています。手にすると、木肌の軽やかな触れ心地がやわらかく伝わり、日々使うほどに漆の表情が深まり、使い手の暮らしにそっと馴染んでいきます。本展では、お椀、お重、箱、お盆、盃など幅広くご紹介いたします。どうぞ、木と漆が紡ぐ静かな佇まいと、長く寄り添える美しさをご高覧ください。

We are pleased to present an exhibition of works by Shuzo Shingu, who creates his pieces in Keihoku, Kyoto. He forms the wooden base entirely by hand, employing traditional techniques such as kurimono—shaping wood with chisels and planes—and hikimono, in which a lathe is used, before building up layers of urushi lacquer to complete each piece. Born from the rich natural environment of Keihoku, his works retain the inherent vitality of the wood, allowing a quiet sense of nature to breathe within them. When held, the light and gentle touch of the wooden surface is immediately felt; with continued use, the lacquer deepens in character and gradually settles into one’s daily life. The exhibition features a wide range of pieces including bowls, tiered boxes, lidded containers, trays, and sake cups. We invite you to enjoy the calm presence woven by wood and lacquer, and the enduring beauty that accompanies them over time.
