概要

福田豊四郎（1904－1970）は大正末から昭和時代に活躍しました。郷里秋田の風景を詩情豊かに描きながら、一方で日本画の革新を目指したモダニストという面も持ち、創造美術の結成に際して主導的役割を担い、戦後の日本画壇を牽引しました。本展では、初期から晩年までの芸術活動を紐解きます。京都では初の回顧展です。

Fukuda Toyoshiro, a modernist depicting Akita; The artist cherished by Tsuchida Bakusen
Fukuda Toyoshiro (1904-1970) was a Nihonga (Japanese style painting) artist who was active during the period from the last part of Taisho era to the Showa era. While he paints simple scenery of his hometown with rich poetic taste, Toyoshiro has a side as a well-known modernist who innovated new style of Nihonga artist scene. The exhibition will unravel the artist’s legacies from his early to late period.
