概要

御来光とは主に高山で迎える日の出、またはその日の出自体を指します。 仏教の「阿弥陀仏が光背を背負って来迎する姿」になぞらえ信仰の対象とされていますが、 実際に御来光を目にすると反射的にその光景に対して感動とともに感謝し祈りを捧げる気持ちになります。 太陽は地球上の全ての生命に恵みをもたらし、 月もまた太陽の光をもって私たちにその美しい姿を見せてくれます。 私が作っている作品も単なる「木彫りの動物」ではなく 太陽や月のように、いつも優しく私たちを見守ってくれるような存在であって欲しいと思います。

The Sacred Sunrise refers primarily to the sunrise observed from high mountains, or to the sunrise itself. It has long been regarded as an object of reverence, likened to the Buddhist image of Amida Buddha descending with a radiant halo of light. When one actually witnesses the sacred sunrise, it naturally evokes a profound sense of awe, gratitude, and a spontaneous urge to offer prayers. The sun bestows its blessings upon all life on Earth, and the moon, reflecting the sun’s light, reveals its beauty to us in turn. In the same way, I hope that the works I create are not merely “wood-carved animals,” but rather presences that, like the sun and the moon, gently watch over us at all times.
