About
Focusing on the image-specific phenomena seen so far in photos, the use of shading, of sparkling phenomenon, surfaces that impart a unique sense of touch, and the blurring brought about by depth of field effects; Marie Yoshiki creates works using a silk screen to give pieces a sense of depth that they didn’t originally have.In the midst of this, the lace expresses the shade and transparency of the light in abundance, whilst being a 2D piece it becomes a main 3D motif. At this exhibition, there is also a focus on the lace that beautifully decorates the body that is often hidden underneath clothing. Lace clothing from the 1920s and lace that is used in modern clothing as the motif, from the aspect of the decorations of these undergarments that become the foundation of the body, (= fond de robe) there is an attempt to unravel the historical background concerning 100 years ago and the present day, and the foundations of the value systems of these two time periods.
