Overview

In 18th Century Kyoto, cultural exchange between Shokoku-ji Temple monks and machi-eshi (“town painters”) gave rise to many notable paintings. Of particular note was the famous collaboration between Baiso Kenji (also known as Daiten Zenshi) and Ito Jakuchu. Please enjoy the world of the many works by Jakuchu, Okyo and others, as well as the modern partition paintings decorating Shokoku-ji, Rokuon-ji (also known as Kinkaku-ji) and Jisho-ji (also known as Ginkaku-ji) Temples.
