An intaglio print is like a mirror. When a landscape is transferred onto a copper plate, what emerges from the plate’s surface of reflection contains various layers:: overlapping layers of ink unique to intaglio printmaking, layers of the depicted area’s historical and political reality, layers of representation created from a vacuum like space of the work itself. Ultimately, my aim is to make this exhibition a place where past layers of myself and the current layers of viewers will meet.Although we are currently in a time of social distancing, it is my great pleasure to exhibit for your viewing.
