Description
Since the ukiyo-e artists of the Edo period, illustrators active in fields as varied as manga, anime and games, and illustrations for novellas have been called “Eshi”. The style they have created is part of Japanese popular culture, and is drawing attention around the world. Here at the Kyoto International Manga Museum, for our special exhibition, we have gathered illustrations by 105 artists who worked with the theme “4 seasons in Japan”, and are exhibiting them in the exhibition “Eshi 100 Part 2 – Contemporary Japanese Illustration in Kyoto”. It is a powered-up version of the exhibition “Eshi 100 Part 2” held in May of 2012 in Akihabara, Tokyo.
