Description
The 6th exhibition of DEMADO CONTEMPORARY ART PROJECT showcases a collaborative work by Ryoko Ryoko and Masako Yasuki. This exhibition is titled “The Birds Lose Their Form after Their Color” after a sentence that appears in Andre Breton’s novel, “Soluble Fish (Poissson Soluble).” The exhibition period will be from January 10 through February 17, 2013.
This show functions as a related program of a group show titled “Soluble Fish” that takes place around the same time in Kyoto, at Kyoto Seika University Gallery Fleur and Gallery Parc, in which Kimura and Yasuki participate and show some collaborative paintings. “Soluble Fish” is an exhibition where 12 Japanese artists attempt at tackling surrealism in a contemporary context and experimenting with the notion of “beyond reality” or “continuation of reality.”
“The Birds Lose Their Form after Their Colors” shares the same theme as “Soluble Fish” exhibition, and by staging an encounter of two very different painters within a small window frame, we expect something unexpected to happen, which was the very idea the surrealists particularly treasured.
