Description
Shiko Munakata (1903-1975) who was born in house of post of Kaji of Aomori in 1903. We receive a big shock from “sunflower” of Gogh at the age of 18 years old and make up our mind to become painter when “we become wataba Gogh” and go to Tokyo at 21 years old. We achieve painting circles debut with oil painting image five years later, but deal with print (will success reason “board image”) afterwards. Prize that is praised highly at the age of 33 years old by founder, Muneyoshi Yanagi of people art campaign, and Munakata produces interesting works in sequence, and is international is receiving a prize a lot. We came to be known as “world Munakata” abroad. We are presented with the Order of Culture in 1970 and love hometown Aomori throughout the life, and work of Munakata who was devoted to national expression is still loved by many people.We introduce the handwritten “world of building decorative painting” described in the entire surface of old possession house (Kyoto, Yamaguchi’s house) which continued interchanging with Munakata for many years this time in the same town. Encounter with Munakata and Shigeru Yamaguchi Taro who ran publication company in Kyoto begins in Munakata having reported to present what we liked when the money in hand is short, and Yamaguchi who liked work of Munakata by district exhibition is going to do only reservation. All two of them were from Tsugaru and would feel thing which had something common in my circumstances that left country alone, and launched business in the same way. We stay in house of Yamaguchi whenever we visit Kyoto. Munakata publishes first collection of works “bansanka” (hansange) from Yamaguchi Bookstore in (1942) in 1942, and interchange of two people deepens still more. What we drew on sliding paper-door came, and original painting production to housing part of Yamaguchi’s house was beriberi. We seemed to draw storeroom, door, wooden door on every place afterwards. Those black-and-white drawings and coloring picture are thought to be thing of about 1965 of the maturity period that was over 60 years old, and it may be said that it is work valuable at all. We might say internal decoration of personal residence, and it was collection of pictures until now, and possession ahead was unscreened, and there was not thing that we really met eyes of person, but we were possessed, and the whole aspect was shown to existence of work on para-Mita museum of Mie from 2010 even if known. State of preservation of work is very good while being individual’s house and this time we progress to show in Kyoto and display board image (print) approximately 45 work including original painting. “ni Bodhisattva Buddha ten size pupil figure” which is masterpiece of Munakata and “figure of of aratamekokuzen ni Bodhisattva” are included in that. Please thoroughly enjoy the essence of unknown Munakata art.
