Introduction

AMMON KYOTO is pleased to announce the exhibition ʻBOKUʼ by Daido Moriyama, beginning on April 7th, 2023. This exhibition focuses on his self-portrait works. His style of grainy, high-contrast images is described as “are, bure, boke” (grainy, blurry, out-of-focus) and has made an impact on the realm of photography. We hope you will enjoy his works which continue to attract viewers with great impact. 

ARTIST STATEMENT
I feel the desire to capture through the lens everything that belongs to this world. At times, I also have the strong feeling that I myself am a component of this world.
When this happens, I turn the camera on myself.
